A Number of Hurt as Turbulence Strikes A Delta Airlines Aircraft Arriving in Sydney

A number of individuals sustained injuries following a Delta flight traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia encountered turbulence on Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it touched down at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson informed. Four flight attendants required medical attention.

The New South Wales Ambulance Service reported they evaluated five individuals, and transferred a trio to a medical facility with relatively minor issues that included spinal discomfort and migraines. The patients' ages spanned from their 30s to 70s.

The event represents the newest example of commercial jets being hit by severe turbulence, with aviation specialists saying that climate change is a significant contributor.

The aircraft was carrying 245 people and 15 crew members on the aircraft, the official added, clarifying that the plane arrived "safely" at the airport at 06:48 local time on the day in question.

Emergency responders said they received a call just three minutes before the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.

Why plane turbulence is becoming more common - and more severe.

During the past year, twenty-five passengers and crew were hurt when a Delta Airlines flight, on a route from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam, Netherlands, experienced "significant" rough air just 120 minutes into the lengthy trip, and had to make an precautionary landing.
